John MacDonald (El Sordo) resides in Suffolk (Kessingland) and AndalucÃa. Although a British subject he was brought up in Australia and New Zealand. He has worked in Southern Africa and Saudi Arabia as well as some light soldiering in the British Army serving in Germany. He writes freelance for many international and domestic magazines including several English Speaking Spanish periodicals, he also takes his own photographs. With a special interest in the Spanish Civil War, John has shed new light on the controversial Fallen Soldier photograph made by Robert Capa in 1936. John is a qualified photographer and has a diploma in freelance journalism. He also studied archaeology with the University of Exeter and University College London.
